What YOU WILL NEED

Helpful tools, tech, and tips to help you succeed — whether you’re competing online or in person.


Technology & Software

Making presentation slides, 3D sketches, or spreadsheets will require access to a computer or tablet. Bring your own device if possible, or borrow one from your school. (Test your device and software before the event.)

For all rounds, a reliable internet connection helps, but for qualifying most files can be worked on offline and uploaded later.

  • A laptop or tablet (and its charger!)

  • Presentation software (Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva)

  • Design tools (Blender, Fusion 360, good old fashioned pen-and-paper)

  • Calculator/spreadsheet software (Desmos, Sheets, Excel)

  • A scanner/phone app

  • Notebook or sketchbook – for quick ideas and planning

  • Stationery – paper, pencils, markers

  • USB drive or cloud backup – to save your work securely

  • Headphones – useful when focusing

  1. Stay organised: Assign roles and track tasks early.

  2. Collaborate: Communication and teamwork matter more than perfect design.

  3. Be resourceful: Use online references and your knowledge - innovation starts with improvisation!

  4. Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to get help, no one is excpected to know everything.

  5. Get a good nights sleep, always stay hydrated!
